ABS August Monthly Challenge

August ABS Monthly Challenge Entry: Handmade Resin Compass Pendant/Necklace...

I've been experimenting with resin lately and made this Compass Resin Pendant using a vintage print.  Tried to pick up on the colors of the sky in Homer's painting with the compass.  I incorporated the pendant into the necklace design using large off-white Keishi Pearls, Coin Pearls, Blueberry Natural Crystal Faceted Rondells, a beautiful ocean inspired Artisan Lampwork Bead with a touch of red in the little spacer beads.  Then I wire wrapped some nautical sea creatures...a pretty pewter Star Fish,  a cute sterling silver Fish for some whimsy and used a sterling silver Fish Clasp with the clasp closure on the side of the necklace.

Fishing Boats, Key West, 1903
Winslow Homer (American, 1836–1910)
Watercolor and graphite on off-white wove paper

In the picture it almost looks like the two sailors in the one boat are asking the sailors in the other boat directions (???).  Maybe they need my compass?

I found this component, for the compass, at Michael's Stores (where I work part time) in the Tim Holtz section.  I used it as a bezel to make the Ice Resin Compass Pendant.  It makes for an interesting and unique pendant/bezel.

Second Entry for this month's Challenge...Freshwater pearls, beautiful ocean themed artisan lampwork bead, handmade resin clasp (by me) with sail boat steering wheel (bezel is Industrial Chic), pewter fish by https://www.etsy.com/shop//MamacitaBeadworks, sterling silver and gunmetal chain.
