ABS DEC Monthly Challenge, a photo by Klassy Joolz on Flickr.
Here is my Entry for the December 2012 Monthly Challenge.

Bracelet is designed with beautiful Artisan Lampwork Beads, Sterling Silver, Freshwater Pearls, Crystals and Czech Bellflowers

 Sleeping Beauty by Erté, 1983
26 1/2" x 33" Serigraph

About the Art
Erté's characteristic style found a new and enthusiastic market in the 1960s, and the artist responded to renewed demand by creating a series of colorful lithographic prints and sculpture.

His taste for the exotic and romantic, and his appreciation of the sinuous and lyrical human figure is felt in all of his art.

About the Artist
Romain de Tirtoff (23 November 1892 – 21 April 1990) was a Russian-born French artist and designer known by the pseudonym Erté, the French pronunciation of his initials, R.T. He was a diversely talented 20th-century artist and designer who flourished in an array of fields, including fashion, jewellery, graphic arts, costume and set design for film, theatre, and opera, and interior decor.

Erté is perhaps most famous for his elegant fashion designs which capture the art deco period in which he worked.  His delicate figures and sophisticated, glamorous designs are instantly recognisable, and his ideas and art still influence fashion into the 21st century.

I've always loved Erte' for his beautiful Art and Designs.

Thank you for stopping by and Happy Holidays!!!!

3rd Annual Challenge of Color Blog Hop

Today is Erin's Annual Color Challenge Blog Hop.  This is my first time to do one of her color challenges and I am so thrilled to be invloved along with 80 others!  I just love the colors of the palette that Erin and Brandi come up for me to choose from.  These colors are so me.

Is that a Bullet Casing?  Read on...

My beautiful Color Palette!

Freshwater Keshi Pearls, Freshwater Button Pearls
Artisan Lampwork Beads and Crystals

Erin suggested to do a little reserach and so I did.   Here is what I found out...very interesting!

Title: Iraqi Emplacement

Location: northern Iraq near Iranian border
Date: January 24, 2001
Satellite/sensor: Landsat 7 ETM+
Source: USGS, NASA Earth as Art series

" In an area north of the city of Al-Basrah, Iraq, a former wetland has been drained and walled off. Now littered with minefields and gun emplacements, it is a staging area for military exercises.  In the far southwest (lower left) of the satellite image we
can see a small town, irrigation canals and an airfield. The original image shows tracks of vehicles. Most straight lines and right angles seen on images represent human-created features, since natural features tend to be more smooth and curved. There are some natural straight lines and right angles, caused by geological fault lines, but they are quite unusual.

As with most images of bare ground (no vegetation),  longer infrared wavelength bands are used to show colour on the computer screen.  A natural colour image would be a dull "dirt" brown."

So glad the infrared wavelengths bands created color!   Such beautiful color!  I tried to pick out most of the colors and incorporate them in my necklace:

Can't use minefields or gun emplacements so I used a silver bullet casing instead as my focal pendant for the necklace.

Thank you so much Erin and Brandi for all your hard work and organizing this wonderful Blog Hop!!!

November 2012 Monthly Challenge

November 2012 Monthly Challenge by Klassy Joolz

Reflections: My entry for the November ABS Monthly Challenge

This month's challenge artwork, M.C. Esher's Three Worlds, is a black and white affair.
"Three worlds" depicts a large pool or lake during the autumn or winter months, the title referring to  the three visible perspectives in the picture: the surface of the water on which leaves float, the world above the surface, observable by the water's reflection of the forest, and the world below the surface, observable in the large fish swimming just below the water's surface.

"Reflections"
I love the Koi Fish in the pond.  So I just had to add a cute little Koi Fish from LeAnn Weih of SummersStudioEtc
to my bracelet.  The Lampwork beads are made by artisan Sandi Carrico http://www.sandicarrico.etsy.com.  Can see the images (reflections) in the Lampwork Beads that reflect the "Three Worlds".  Accents are Sterling Silver, Swarovski Crystals, a black Czech Glass leaf, and white and black Czech Glass Bellflowers.
Thank you for stopping by!

Nina's Design Blog Partnership

A few week ago I was surprised when DeAnna from Nina Designs contacted me and asked me to participate in their monthly
Blog Partnership Program.   Each month they select a few lucky bloggers and send them a goodie bag of Nina Designs’ charms and findings. In exchange, they ask that you blog about your goodie bag and link back to them from your blog post. They want you to "Get Creative"!    Craft a piece of jewelry, write a review, use them in design challenges, give them out as prizes in a give-away - what you do with them is up to you.   I was so thrilled to be selected.  Here are the BEAUTIFUL components that I received:
All I could say was WOW!  I loved everything.  I have a thing for
skulls and that purple leather is so soft and one of my favorite colors.

Purple Leather Necklace:

Nina's Design Blog Partnership, a photo by Klassy Joolz on Flickr

I braided the leather and added artisan lampwork beads from Mantrel on Etsy...I love her metallic beads.

I used a large disc artisan lampwork bead and added a sterling silver bunny button to the center.

In this necklace I used the Bronze Snake Pendant, Bronze Hook and Eye Clasp, and Bronze Small Hammered Marquis Links.  I wire wrapped all the componets with gold filled wire.

And here's my favorite:  Skully Earrings
I used the Bronze Skull Charms,  the Bronze Lotus Petal Charms, and the Bronze Hook Earring findings (which are unbelievably comfortable to wear!) .

Skully Earrings with purple Glass Cyrstals,  Swarovski Crystals and gold filed chain.

I am so impressed with Nina Designs quality charms and findings.  It was such a pleasure to work them.  They offer bronze jewelry charms in three finishes: natural bronze, silver plated charms, and gold plated charms. You’ll find the prices of these new lines as attractive as the finish.

The materials above were provided as part of the Nina Designs blogging program. The author of this blog has not received any payment from above-mentioned company. The post above represents only personal opinion of the blog author.

ABS August Monthly Challenge

August ABS Monthly Challenge Entry: Handmade Resin Compass Pendant/Necklace...

I've been experimenting with resin lately and made this Compass Resin Pendant using a vintage print.  Tried to pick up on the colors of the sky in Homer's painting with the compass.  I incorporated the pendant into the necklace design using large off-white Keishi Pearls, Coin Pearls, Blueberry Natural Crystal Faceted Rondells, a beautiful ocean inspired Artisan Lampwork Bead with a touch of red in the little spacer beads.  Then I wire wrapped some nautical sea creatures...a pretty pewter Star Fish,  a cute sterling silver Fish for some whimsy and used a sterling silver Fish Clasp with the clasp closure on the side of the necklace.

Fishing Boats, Key West, 1903
Winslow Homer (American, 1836–1910)
Watercolor and graphite on off-white wove paper

In the picture it almost looks like the two sailors in the one boat are asking the sailors in the other boat directions (???).  Maybe they need my compass?

I found this component, for the compass, at Michael's Stores (where I work part time) in the Tim Holtz section.  I used it as a bezel to make the Ice Resin Compass Pendant.  It makes for an interesting and unique pendant/bezel.

Second Entry for this month's Challenge...Freshwater pearls, beautiful ocean themed artisan lampwork bead, handmade resin clasp (by me) with sail boat steering wheel (bezel is Industrial Chic), pewter fish by https://www.etsy.com/shop//MamacitaBeadworks, sterling silver and gunmetal chain.

Thank you for visiting!

New Resin Inspiration In my Etsy Shop

I've been having lots of fun trying out new Ice Resin creations...

Heart Shaped Pendant with pretty vintage script and flower print.  I also added a Big Rhinestone Crystal in the upper left hand corner to add some bling.  I used an Industrial Chic Bezel Clasp that I added the pretty vintage blue flower print too.

Love the chain!

Some more Industial Chic Bezel Clasps with Ice Resin:

It's hard to see  in this picture, but there is vintage style script in the bezel/resin.

One side of this double sided pendant with vintage postcard/pretty rose print.
Second side of double sided pendant with vintage style script and a vintage button encased in the resin.
This pendant/necklace was made with vintage componets.  It sold right away.  It really was pretty.

Please stop by my Etsy Shop to check them out.

ABS JULY 2012 CHALLENGE

ABS JULY 2012 CHALLENGE by Klassy Joolz
ABS JULY 2012 CHALLENGE, a photo by Klassy Joolz on Flickr.
My entry for the Monthly Art Bead Scene...

"Two Acrobats with a dog" by Pablo Picasso, 1905
Gouache, 105.5cm x 75cm
Museum of Modern Art, New York

I used Art Beads by Mandrel on Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/mandrel2, an Industrial Chic bezel clasp that I encased in, Ice Resin, a vintage button, wire wrapped artisan lampwork beads with non-tarnish silver plated wire and added a cute little sterling silver paw print to represent the dog in the painting.  It's hard to see in the pictures, but one of the sterling silver beads has a Harlequin pattern.
I loved the soft colors of this months painting, but only chose the soft blue/purple hues to make this bracelet with.

Thank you for stopping by...
